The Hoppings Fairground opens tonight after postponement

Unprecedented rain fall delayed the start of the 130th Hoppings fairground.

It was due to start on Friday 22nd June but Newcastle’s Town Moor was a mudbath before any of the 30,000 a-day crowd had arrived, raising safety concerns. This is how it looked then:

But after two fairly dry days enough of the water has drained away and the first thrill-seekers descend on the site tonight. Please note though, if you’re heading down the carparks on site aren’t yet open. Probably a good thing, I nearly got the radio car stuck the other day!
