Unprecedented rain fall delayed the start of the 130th Hoppings fairground.
It was due to start on Friday 22nd June but Newcastle’s Town Moor was a mudbath before any of the 30,000 a-day crowd had arrived, raising safety concerns. This is how it looked then:
But after two fairly dry days enough of the water has drained away and the first thrill-seekers descend on the site tonight. Please note though, if you’re heading down the carparks on site aren’t yet open. Probably a good thing, I nearly got the radio car stuck the other day!
