Durham’s tourist board, Visit County Durham is spending £660,000 to attract more walkers and cyclists to the North Pennines.
£450,000 comes from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and £210,000 come from Durham’s tourism businesses.
Bosses launched the campaign by getting lots of people to form the shape of a bicycle and a boot with their bodies on the countryside, choreographed by a man from Lanchester. Here’s how it went:
