Accentuating Your Accent or Accent-uating Darling?

Now is the Geordie accent the trickiest one to mimic? BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine made an attempt on his show this week, with the help of Hollywood voice coach Roisin Carty. It didn’t go well.

He was accused of sounding Welsh. The Geordie accent doesn’t sound Welsh does it? It’s interesting hearing how other people hear our accent though. It’s got me thinking about when we change our voice and if our accent’s something we can manipulate.
