The Great North Run: 2012

It’s nearly that time of year again when geordies dress up and leg it to South Shields.

Sunday 16th September is one of the biggest events on Newcastle’s calends: the Great North Run.

Over 55,000 runners will pack the central motorway, cheered on by Geordies everywhere on their 13 mile journey to the coast at South Shields.

Two of them will be the man with a Fridge on his back, Tony Phoenix-Morrison, and me – we’ve been walking through the key points in the route:

We’ll all be cheered across the start line by some very special guests this year… Local Olympic heroine Kat Copeland, gold medal long jumper Greg Rutherford, boxing sensation Nicola Adams and Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds.
