On 17th May 2012 a hole appeared in a road in the Newburn area of Newcastle.
We know now that it was one of the first signs of a collapsed culvert and for everyone concerned it turned out to be the start of a whole lot of trouble.
It’s been a remarkable story – and who could forget the pictures of that block of flats teetering on the edge of a huge waterfall:
The situation went from bad to worse and resulted in people being moved from their homes and a block of flats being demolished – but what are the authorities doing to make sure it doesn’t happen somewhere else?
